Normoyle Engineering Completes Landmark Project at Metro Martin Place for Macquarie Bank
After more than four years of dedicated work, Normoyle Engineering is proud to announce the successful completion of the Macquarie Bank Head Office project, part of the prestigious Metro Martin Place development in Sydney’s CBD.
This ambitious undertaking is a landmark in contemporary commercial architecture, and Normoyle Engineering played a critical role in bringing its most intricate and visually striking components to life. Our scope included the design, fabrication, and installation of over 30 custom feature staircases, extensive atrium balustrades, specialist glazing, and high-complexity structural steelwork across multiple levels of the new workplace campus.

From the outset, this project demanded a level of precision and innovation rarely encountered in commercial construction. The complexity of the geometries involved—particularly in the sweeping staircases and curved balustrade elements—necessitated a bespoke digital design approach. Normoyle’s in-house team developed and deployed advanced parametric modelling techniques to accurately translate the architect’s vision into buildable components. This enabled seamless coordination across disciplines and ensured flawless integration on site.
Each staircase was unique—engineered not only as a means of circulation but as a feature in itself. Crafted to exacting standards, they serve as sculptural focal points throughout the workspace, marrying form and function in a way that defines the building’s interior.
Delivering a project of this scale and sophistication over a four-year construction period required deep collaboration with builders, designers, and consultants, as well as an unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Normoyle’s capacity to manage complex logistics, design interfaces, and site installation in a live and evolving environment was instrumental in the success of the project.
We are honoured to have contributed to one of Australia’s most ambitious commercial developments and to have helped shape the new home of Macquarie Bank—a space defined by its bold design, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence.
